Helpful Information

The International Student House is located in the Historic Alphabet District, a 10 minute walk to downtown Portland, near 3 major bus lines, the MAX light rail train, the Portland Streetcar and 7 blocks from Portland's fareless square (free public transportation). We are very close to 3 grocery stores. We are located between 21st and 23rd Avenues which have many nice shops, bars, and restaurants. We are also a 5-minute walk to Portland's Rose Gardens and Forest Park, which features 30 miles of hiking trails, an old growth forest, streams, etc.

The house has a total of 7 rooms. 4 rooms are on the second floor and 3 rooms on the 3rd floor. The International Student House manager has a room on the main floor. All rooms have a bed with sheets, blankets, and pillows and a desk and a closet. Some rooms have a sink. There are 2 shared bathrooms (a separate toilet and shower on the second floor, and a full bathroom on the third floor). On the main floor is a living room with cable TV, a dining room, and the fully equipped kitchen. A laundry room is available in the basement. We have a free public internet computer for your use in the house, as well as free, unlimited wireless internet through the whole house for use with your laptop. We also have a phone with an answering machine for your use. We get free bread and pastries twice a week and free bagels once a week. We do not wear shoes in the house so you should bring slippers if you have them.

Room Rent

• $500 per month (1 smaller room for $450)
  • add $25 per month if staying less than 3 months
• Utility cost at $85 per month
• Shared room (2 people): $350 per person per month

When you move in you will pay the following:
First Month Rent $500
First Month Utilities $85
Last Month Rent $500
Last Month Utilities $85
(you will not need to pay rent the last month you stay because you will have already paid it upon your move in)
Security Deposit $200 (this is entirely refundable when you move out)
Key Deposit $50 (this is entirely refundable when you move out)
Anticipated Upkeep Fee $50 (one-time fee to help cover upkeep expenses)
Total of $1,470 ($1370 for the small room)

If you do not move in on the first day of the month, your second month rent and utilities will be pro-rated.

Payments can be made with cash, check, or travelers check (credit cards can be used for a 5% fee).

A credit card number is required to secure a reservation and reservations are subject to a 30 day cancellation policy.
